Opportunity summary: As a Quality Manager you will ensure that quality standards are met and maintained by understanding, implementing, and enforcing Customer, Regulatory, and WestRock processes, policies, and procedures. As a Quality Manager you will be accountable for internal and external quality complaint resolution, execution of audits, and ensuring efficient and smooth operations within the production facility.

How You Will Impact WestRock
  • Review, approve, and execute facility and corporate standard operating procedures for site implementation
  • Coordinate and execute internal, customer, supplier, subcontractor, and regulatory audits
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with current policies, procedures, regulatory requirements, and customer requirements
  • Coordinate and execute investigation of detected risks or failures, complaints, and corrective/preventative actions
  • Work closely with production managers to maximize product quality and reliability and minimize cost
  • Track, analyze, and lead initiatives for all internal quality and customer complaint issues
  • Determine, document, and approve site-specific or one-time occurrences such as protocols (reworks, validations, etc.), deviations (planned or unplanned), waivers, or releases for materials and products as required
  • Leverage enterprise technology to analyze quality complaints, track corrective and preventive actions, and use data to isolate and track defective parts per million, over shipments, and resolve issues related to rejected products when applicable
  • Execute facility improvement initiatives as determined from performance data
  • Lead team of quality technicians and Safe Quality Foods (SQF) readiness resources, ensuring that processes are efficient, and work is appropriately prioritized
  • Provide tools and training for quality management and quality improvement to the facility staff
What You Need To Succeed
  • High School diploma or G.E.D.
  • Must have 5 to 10 years of work-related manufacturing experience
  • Should have 3 to 5 years’ experience in production supervisory role
  • Demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage and inspire others to comply with quality standards
  • Proven track record of problem-solving
  • Thorough knowledge of quality standards and methodologies
  • Ability to learn proprietary software programs and leverage enterprise complaint management software
  • Professional training and quality certifications courses (e.g. Six Sigma, ISO Certification) are preferred

Responsible for operating Electric Pallet Jacks, Forklifts, Stand-up Reach Trucks, and/or Sit-down Swing Reach Trucks.

Complete a daily checklist on Material Handling Equipment (MHE) before the start of the shift.

Ensure all safety equipment and devices are in place and working properly.

Safe operation of the MHE within the plant to prevent damage or personal injury.

Responsible for unloading inbounds, warehousing materials, supplying production lines and loading outbound shipments.

Checking the trailers to make sure they are safe to use.

Ensuring materials are properly unitized and marked.

Accurately checking the quantity and description of the materials handled.

Loading various size pallets to maximize trailer cube while minimizing in transit damage.

Able to learn and use KIWI software and RF Scanners

Completing paperwork associated with the movement of materials in an accurate and timely manner.

Maintaining accurate inventory of all materials and completing daily cycle counts.

Assisting other areas as need to maintain a team approach.

May assist as a back up to the Warehouse Clerk when necessary

Responsible for the overall Safety and cleanliness of equipment and area.

Work in a safe and efficient manner in accordance with company policies and procedures.

Overtime is required.

General Summary

The Production Manager is responsible for managing and directing all aspects of assigned manufacturing department(s). Position is responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating the work activities and resources necessary for manufacturing products in accordance with cost, quality, and quantity specifications. Also responsible for leading, training, and mentoring all departmental team members as well as to maintain that discipline and procedures are being followed in accordance with the Safety, Quality, Engineering, Human Resources, and Finance Departments.

Essential Accountabilities

  • Review production requirements for assigned department(s) to ensure that customer requirements are being scheduled and that department(s) have 100% schedule attainment. This also includes ensuring sufficient manpower, materials, and mechanical requirements are available to meet the departmental needs.
  • On-going problem solving to ensure a smooth 24 hour operation in manufacturing. Troubleshoot major and minor issues to direct solutions for department(s). Identify root cause of issue and take corrective actions necessary to correct current issues and /or prevent production related future issues.
  • Work closely with maintenance, manufacturing and engineering to resolve machine downtime, scrap and quality related issues.
  • Visually monitor the production floor daily to ensure 5-S is practiced at all times.
  • Initiate, lead, suggest and mentor CIP (Cost Improvement) activities in assigned department(s) to ensure safe production in the most efficient and cost effective method possible. This includes the preparation and analysis of departmental documentation to ensure continuous improvement goals are being met.
  • Collect, analyze, and present / distribute manufacturing data as needed related to assigned department(s).
  • Manage daily manpower including headcount compliance, attendance, morale, procedure compliance, positive recognition, and disciplinary actions taken when required. Also, position is responsible for leading, training, and mentoring all departmental team members.
  • Ensure manpower requirements are adjusted quickly and efficiently to ensure overtime reduction and idle time elimination.
  • Manage the departmental budgets for compliance with monthly goals set by CKNA.
  • Ensure that all CKNA procedures are being followed in accordance with the Safety, Quality, Engineering, Human Resources, and Finance Departments.
  • Communicates frequently with internal and external contacts on various issues in order to effectively manage the department(s) assigned.
  • Maintain acceptable customer relationships by supporting customer request. This includes resolving of customer oriented issues such as quality issues, meeting customer order fluctuations, etc… Also, position will periodically conduct onsite meetings with customers and provide documentation and production floor tours as requested.
  • Attend required meetings as necessary in order to effectively manage department(s) assigned.
  • Utilize layered audits and other monitoring methods of the manufacturing floor to ensure department(s) success.
  • Performs other duties as necessary.

Provide technical support to sales for presentations to customers for potential new business.
