Provide materials support to achieve safety, quality, productivity and delivery to assure internal and external customer satisfaction.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

Support the Company's mission, vision, values and goals in the performance of daily activities.
Provide key input into the development of departmental strategic goals along with identifying key measurable to support the departmental goals.
Follow established guidelines to meet centralized purchasing policies.
Develop / implement new processes to improve departmental efficiency.
Request purchase of materials and releases materials to meet customer and plant requirements.
Maintain purchasing files as required per company policy.
Maintain raw material and purchase part inventories for plant operations.
Assist raw material follow-up colleague on maintenance of materials / quality systems.
Responsible for continuing programs of exploration for new materials, suppliers, and processes to achieve the best possible quality, reliability, prices, continuity, and delivery
Responsible for providing part information for the plants NAFTA reporting requirements.
Review and update the system for raw material and purchased parts rejection /chargeback(s).
Requests purchase orders for components and steel.
Drive plant inventory reduction efforts of purchased parts.
Interact with Production Control and Scheduling and Ship/Rec/Whse/Pkg associates.
Utilize teamwork to develop plant synergy.
Supply daily, weekly, monthly, and annual reports as required.
Participate in team problem solving activities and process improvement activities.
Support plant activities towards achieving customer awards and quality registrations (TS16949).
Assist with plant activities to achieve quality, productivity and cost reduction goals.
Responsible for following all internal and OSHA required safety procedures in performing daily work activities.
Maintain a working relationship with all levels of the organization.
RELATIONSHIPS
Reports directly to the Materials Manager. Interfaces on a frequent basis with Production, Operations, IT and Quality. Also interfaces on an as needed basis with HR, Finance, Engineering and Maintenance.

Qualifications

Must have proficient PC skills, including the ability to create and interpret spreadsheets and word processing documents. Current experience working with materials management software is required.

EDUCATION And/or EXPERIENCE

Associates Degree in related field or equivalent experience, with a minimum of three years' experience in materials working in an automotive manufacturing environment.
Good computer skills. Ability to use Microsoft Office software.
Ability to assume responsibility and corresponding authority and accountability. Results oriented.
Excellent organizational, analytical and communication skills.
Ability to work well with others in a team environment.
Language Skills

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, procedures, and computer manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondences. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as fundamental accounting spreadsheets. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, area, circumference, volume, interest, commissions., ratios and proportions to practical situations. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. Ability to analyze data and provide summaries and comparisons.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works near machinery and moving parts. The employee may be exposed to the risk of electromagnetic fields, risk of electric shock and vibration. The employee will be required to travel and stay overnight on occasion. The noise level in the office environment is usually quiet, but will be loud when in the production environment. Associate may be subject to temperature extremes for extended periods of time.
