 Summary of Job:

The Plant Controller will be a key leader on the plant leadership team for our Walker Die Casting manufacturing operations. The Plant Controller will report to the Executive Director, Finance and Operations Controller with a dotted line to the Executive Director of Operations, Walker Die Casting. In this position, you will be responsible for collaborating with the Operations Executive Director and senior management to explain results, make improvements, manage projects, identify inefficiencies, understand operations and lead the development of complex financial analysis for business activities in alignment with corporate policies and practices.


Job responsibilities:

  • Provide analytics and insights regarding cost of goods sold and manufacturing operating expenses to enhance decision-making of various departmental leaders.
  • Oversee local finance personnel, month-end closing process and preparation of monthly financial and operational performance reports for site.
  • Develop, implement and track key performance indicators, including the preparation and distribution of daily dashboards to plant leadership.
  • Monitor and evaluate operations performance including; preparation of monthly operations results; variance analysis of actual cost to budget, prior year and forecast; and proving insightful summary of findings.
  • Provide financial analysis for capital expenditures and return on investment targets.
  • Assist the Operations Executive Director in developing budgets and forecasts for the Walker Die Casting operations.
  • Must work across organization boundaries and all levels of the company to achieve plant and corporate objectives.
  • Estimate product costs, analyze pricing, and prepare financial analysis to support quoting activities and new commercial sales opportunities.
  • Monitor and implement plant internal controls in conjunction with corporate policies to ensure reporting integrity, safeguarding of company assets, and identification of risks.
  • Assist with integration of corporate ERP system and development of plant BOMs, routings, and standard costs.
  • Ensures proper accounting in accordance with U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.


Experience and Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance with a minimum of 10 years of plant and cost accounting experience in a leadership role within a manufacturing environment
  • Knowledge and understanding of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and Sarbanes-Oxley compliance (SOX)
  • Experience with cost accounting (standard costing), budgeting, forecasting, month-end and year-end close activities and working with inventory management
  • Working knowledge of SAP or ERP systems
  • Solid leadership skills
  • Strong organizational and complex problem solving skills
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook
  • Ability to interface at all levels of the organization, both internally and externally
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Supervises/Leads individuals or a project team to achieve milestones and objectives by setting priorities and providing direction.
