JOB TITLE: Purchasing Manager/ Sr. Purchasing Manager
FLSA STATUS: Exempt
GRADE: 14
REPORTS TO: Director or VP Purchasing
General Summary
This position manages the daily activities of the CalsonicKansei North America purchasing group within the policies and procedures of our organization and supports all purchasing activities. In accomplishing this, the goals of the annual business plan are to be met and the staff is to be managed in positive and fair work environment.
Essential Accountabilities
- Assist purchasing staff with resolution of exceptional situations.
- Oversee buyers who are negotiating pricing in support of new products and cost down activities (VA/VE, NRP, N180, etc).
- Respond to internal CKNA issues / requests.
- Respond to supplier issues / requests.
- Prepare reports or presentations.
- Manage day to day purchasing department activities.
- Participates in staff and production meetings.
- Develop and tracks outsource strategies.
- Participating in the resolution of quality issues with outside suppliers requiring teleconferences and supplier visits if needed to intervene at management level.
- Special projects for upper management (budget review, emergency tasks, meetings, etc.).
- Communicates frequently with internal and external contacts on various issues.
- Performs other duties as necessary.

This work is performed in a general office environment.
The Incumbent Must
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Have a high school diploma or GED.
- Typically requires a Bachelor's Degree in a related discipline and generally five plus years experience in related field

- An advanced degree and generally four years experience in related field.
- Certification may be required in some areas.
- Have experience working with integrated computer programs and/or applications.
- Have negotiation skills, Human Resource Management skills, cost analysis skills, program management skills, and superior problem solving skills, legal aspects of commercial law, understanding of statistics, manufacturing, and general engineering.
- Have strong communication, administrative and organizational skills, and the ability to coordinate multiple projects and programs.
- Be able to pass all background checks and pre-employment tests, including any required drug test.
- Be able to maintain the confidentiality of any information s/he encounters.

Specialized Skills And Knowledge Required
Intermediate to advanced experience (beyond basic data entry) working with computer applications such as Word, Excel, Lotus Notes, PowerPoint and other presentation applications and/or software.
