Position Summary And Responsibilities

Prepares and maintains accuracy of accounting records, customer records, financial statements, or other financial reports to procedural standards. Provides management with accurate information in the areas of collections, budgets, balances, and forecasting in an efficient manner. At this level, tasks and assignments tend to be simple, straight-forward in nature and duties are performed under close supervision.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Compiles and analyzes financial information to prepare entries to accounts, such as general ledger accounts, accounts receivable and cash sub-ledgers, documenting business transactions.
  • Distributes, encumbrances, receipts, and receivables according to schedules.
  • Provides record of assets, liabilities, and other financial transactions.
  • Prepares balance sheet, accounts receivable aging, cash forecasting, and other reports to summarize and interpret current and projected company financial position for managers.
  • Monitors compliance with generally accepted accounting principles, Teledyne Corporate, and local company procedures.
  • Reviews, investigates, and corrects errors and inconsistencies in financial entries, documents, and reports.
  • Collects appropriate data and prepares reporting of customer, program, product, state, and local reports.
  • Serves as back-up for other accounting duties, primarily company fixed asset and customer asset management.
  • Provides or supports the preparation of daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly annual, and year-end audit ledgers, reports, and analysis.
  • Supports the preparation of year-end or other ad-hoc audit files and analysis.
  • Daily availability to include evenings and weekends when necessary to reach goals and deadlines.

Education And/or Experience

Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university in accounting or a related curriculum and 1-2 years of directly related experience and/or training; Associate’s degree from a community college or professional school in accounting or a related curriculum and 2-3 years of directly related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as department policies, software operating and maintenance instructions for related tasks, and task procedure instructions. Ability to write routine email, reports and correspondence, primarily with appropriate customer and other internal company contacts. Ability to speak effectively with customers or employees of organization.

Mathematical Skills: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as deposit liquidations, payment applications, discounts, interest, , proportions, percentages, ratios, KPIs, and multiples. Ability to apply concepts of accounting and finance.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or digital form. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have appropriate GAAP knowledge, and of Microsoft Office software. Must be able to evidence MS Excel skill application in previous academic and professional setting.

Other Essential Duties
  • Follows all import/export customer reporting requirements where applicable, consulting with facility import/export personnel as required.
